Why Equity Shares are Called Stocks ?

On the Evening of Budget Day (28Feb2011), I was busy with Stocks Price Charts as usual  and suddenly a new wave of Thoughts cam to my mine - “ Why Equity Shares Are Called Stocks ?”
Actually, Stocks are Finished Goods Ready to move from Seller to Buyer, Stored in Godown. Here the basic of Stocks come to Role. In Capital Market, A Retail Trader/Investor Buys a Equity Share to make a Quick Buck, where FII /Intelligent Investors  Dumps their Goods(Shares) and Prices starts falling to lower levels. Retail Trader/Investor then have no options, yes that Options we Play in F&O Segments, but to keep that stocks and searching for another Buyer to Share his Burden(minimize losses) by way of Selling at lower prices.
That’s Why It is Called Stocks ? And it always search for a Person to Share It.
